It’s amazing to think of the impact that those 24 merchants had on stock market history and the world, even in the present age. In the past 60 years of stock market history, the lowest multiple of bottom-of-channel earnings has been 10x, which occurred briefly in 1974 and again in 1982.

Economic fluctuations, boom and bust economies, rag-to-riches are all part of the volatile world of the Stock Exchange. The Exchange, perched majestically on New York’s famous Wall Street, is the indicator for the economic health of the country and the rest of the world. The market did in fact recover form this crash, and went on a period of sporadic rising and falling until 1987, during which time the Dow Jones suffered the biggest one day downturn in stock market history. Despite the recent economic turmoil, THE 2009 STOCK MARKET HISTORY POSTER offers compelling visual evidence of the value of stocks over the long-term and puts today’s market volatility in perspective. Stock market history shows that the Stock Exchange was an exclusive organization that only the elite of New York’s financial community could join.

According to findings by Phil Maymin, professor of finance and risk engineering at New York University, the more regular the beat on Billboard’s top singles, the more volatile the American markets. After studying decades of Billboard’s Hot 100 hits, Maymin found that songs with low “beat variance” had an inverse correlation with market turbulence.

Why not just ignore the volatility and collect the increased risk premium from stocks? That is the message of those who believe in “Stocks for the Long Run” and also from those who want you to invest in their long-only mutual fund or managed account program. Stock Market - A Look Back at History

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

The stock market is where businesses and individuals buy and sell shares of coporations. As an investor, an individual sometimes wields power over the company. This shareholder offers valuable financial support to the company and in return benefits from the profits realized. The number of shareholders owning a company could range from a few individuals to thousands- depending on the size and capital requirements of the corporation. As a business grows, it requires adequate funds to meet its financial goals. When a company is in a state of substantial growth, it may sell shares to the public to gain a stronghold in the market. Selling shares to the public has been a practice with many businesses for many years.

Companies selling portions of their business to the public is not something new. The financial market has always been a platform for buyers and sellers, where both parties share a mutually profitable relationship. The stock market is like the financial spine of a country- a place where shares of numerous companies are bought and sold. In the United States there are three share markets that play a crucial role in shaping the economy- Nasdaq, the New York Stock Exchange and the American Stock Exchange.

Wall Street is an important financial center in the United States. During the 17th century, even before New York City was what it is today, there was a high wall built as a defense against British attackers. Eventually the wall came down but the name of the street remained as Wall Street.

Even though we think of Wall Street as the financial hub of the United States, history has a different story to tell. You may not know that Boston was once the countrys financial hub. Boston dealers played an active part in buying and selling various kinds of commodities as well as dealing in bonds for contracts such as bridges and canals. It is indeed difficult to imagine the financial hub of America as something other than Wall Street. However history clearly states the importance of the Boston dealers in creating an active financial market, very much similar to the one found in Wall Street today.

Other countries similarly conducted their financial dealings through their own financial marketplaces. For example, the city of Paris carried out its economic pursuits on Rue de Quincampoix.

London’s stock market is an interesting tale in the history of finance. The stock exchange in London was originally an open market based on Exchange Alley. Jonathans Coffee House was the popular place where many London dealers conducted their financial activities. The Coffee House was later renamed The Stock Exchange.

Over the years, Wall Street gradually picked up business with varied kinds of traders offering countless shares to the public. As time went by, many new banks also began to operate in the market offering attractive deals such as treasury bonds.

D2 Spot Market Transactions Explained

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

D2 Spot is a type of fuel and certain trading market. This can be translated as buying or selling diesel fuel for immediate delivery. As much of the petroleum products in use come from around the world, the Internet is commonly used for trading most of the spot market commodities.

D2 Spot must meet certain standards in order to be sold on the cash or physical market. Because it involves trading between international countries with different foreign currencies, an investor manages the currency exchanges from one nation to another. D2 is a type of crude oil that mainly has its origins in Russia, but is also produced in Saudi Arabia. A global spot market is very liquid, giving investors the option of entering and exiting a particular foreign market as they wish.

D2 Spot real-time transactions require payment for the type of fuel at the current market price and in cash, as opposed to the price at the time of delivery. The security must also be delivered within a relatively short space of time for a spot market, typically within a day or so of the sale.

Very little of the world’s crude oil is traded on the spot market, as energy commodities typically have long-term contracts. D2 Spot is mainly needed in the transportation arena, four vehicles that run on diesel fuel. Being very low in sulfur, this type of fuel is ideal for diesel use.

Both the buyer and seller expected immediate payment when conducting a transaction for D2 spot. Entities from around the world trade daily with this type of crude oil and other petroleum products.

D2 Spot markets generally deal with international trade in crude oil. The present day market price is based on supply and demand. For example, with any type of oil, the spot price could vary depending on time of year, usage and economic conditions.

A D2 Spot contract between a buyer and seller goes into effect as soon as the deal is approved. This differs from a futures market where payment is deferred and prices are not based on the present, but rather on a trade that will take place in the future, with the cost of storage included in the future price. However, there are times when crude oil is sold at spot prices but actual delivery occurs a few months later.

D2 Spot trading takes place on the spot or cash market. The price of commodities, securities, or goods are set with the intention of immediate trading. A buyer or a seller of diesel fuel they find each other on the spot market and conduct a transaction within minutes. Markets are managed by industry groups or government agencies, or in certain cases privately held

REBCO Oil Makes a Worthy Energy Investment

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Russian Export Blend Crude Oil, also known as REBCO Oil, is traded around the world. 1000 US barrels is the minimum trading unit at a set barrel price. Whereas a lot of this oil is bought for delivery and subsequent use as gasoline, jet fuel or home heating oil, some traders will purchase future contracts for investment purposes.

As the price of REBCO Oil will fluctuate, investors can make money in this energy commodity when they buy low and sell high. On the downturn, much money can be lost if buying at a price that the future market would not support.

REBCO Oil trading takes place on the CME, Chicago Mercantile exchange Globex electronic trading platform. This is where much of the world’s major commodities and products are bought and sold. Here, the trading symbol is RE. If you want to conduct transactions off the stock exchange, consider the New York Mercantile exchange (NYMEX) ClearPort website.

You can invest in REBCO Oil by buying futures or options at a set price. Bear in mind that the buying price will fluctuate, so you need to be skilled at price selection. As the purchase price is not likely to be the same as the futures price, there is an element of investment risk.

Parties who have a direct interest in petroleum products are mainly involved in the buying and selling of REBCO Oil. These include manufacturers, refiners, factories, oil and fuel companies, importers, exporters, oil traders, global suppliers, wholesalers and trading agents.

The trading price for REBCO Oil, like other crude oil products, is based on several factors, among them its chemical makeup, delivery locations and financial terms. Because no crude oil type is the same, molecular and chemical differences could affect the oils quality and cause production, environmental and yield concerns.

In Russia, the crude oil production is classified as medium gravity sour crude, defined as having a medium density with large amounts of sulfur. Different countries have different requirements when it comes to sulfur content, so this type of petroleum might need additional refining to ease environmental concerns. REBCO Oil, therefore, is not in as high demand as light, sweet crude oil that has no sulfur concerns. This lower demand will translate into a lower purchase price.

Russia is one of the worlds largest exporters of REBCO Oil and is the second largest producer of crude oil in the world. On a daily basis, about 4 million barrels of the oil is exported to refining markets. Future contracts hold several benefits, among them market transparency, dependable pricing and financial protection against the risk of default. They are exchanged through the New York Mercantile Exchange in partnership with the Russian oil industry and Expertica Consulting Ltd.
