How To Manage A Wedding Car Business

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Have you ever thought about setting up a wedding car company? Although it can be demanding, because you do not want to let anybody down on their big day, it is also fascinating and exciting.

Some of the advantages are that you get to own good-looking cars - maybe a Rolls Royce or a Bentley and they are tax-deductible; you meet new people under happy conditions and you are in the position to help them have a wonderful wedding day.

It is a very demanding industry, because you always have to bear in mind the desires of your clients and think about how you can realize and expand their’ wishes. That is difficult enough, but you also have to stay competitive. I hope that the following tips will be helpful.

1] Take care of the conditions under which you keep your vehicles. If you can afford to garage them, they will not collect dust and bird droppings so the paintwork will look better for longer. Do not have a gravel drive, because of possible scratching to the coachwork of the cars.

2] Get one or two really lovely cars. You will need to do a bit of research to find out what couples in your area like, but as a rule of thumb a Rolls Royce or a Bentley are sure bets. Or maybe a stretch limousine. Old vehicles go down well too. Build up your fleet of cars step by step but increasingly. Offer your clients as much choice as you can realistically afford to do.

Many wedding couples will not only require the wedding car, but also vehicles for the guests. Many of them want limousines or old cars for their wedding day. But a lot of other vehicles are required for the guests. Be flexible and agree to decorate the vehicles according to the couple’s wishes with flowers and ribbons.

2] Employ good, compassionate personnel. A fully trained chauffeur is a necessity, but a military style driver can add to your firm’s image.

3] It is a good idea to offer different packages or elements that a couple can use to build a package. So, you could offer transportation from the bride’s house to the church as one element. From the church to the restaurant as another element and from there to the chosen hotel, the airport or the railway station, as another element.

4] Make certain that your clients know exactly how long they have exclusive use of the vehicles for. This is useful for them, so that they know exactly how long they have to take photos, eat or chat.

Transportation plays a huge and fundamental part in any wedding day celebrations. In fact, poorly timed or scruffy transportation can ruin a wedding day. If you let that happen, your firm’s standing will suffer badly, particularly in a town or village. You will need a high sense of responsibility; reliable, well-trained, sensitive staff and high quality vehicles that look the part. White wedding cars are popular, but other colours are acceptable, especially for the guests.

Coastal Cottage Holidays

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Seaside holidays are extremely popular which is why every year, millions of tourists go to seaside beaches. Perhaps you like seaside holidays too. seaside holidays are fantastic, but that can be the problem too, because it frequently means overcrowding, queuing, rubbish and noise. Have you ever thought about renting your own private coastal cottage? Many only dream about it, but it is not that difficult or costly to arrange actually.

One point to bear in mind is that, public beaches are well-known and that is why they get too busy. However, private coastal cottages are often secluded or on private beaches, which makes for a much quieter holiday. Often, local people living only miles from the cottage do not know that they are there. Despite this, most coastal cottages do not cost a lot of money to rent.

These coastal cottages are to be had in many countries around the world. They are certainly very popular in Britain, Europe and the United States. The level of privacy and the amenities available will depend on where you go. A coastal cottage in Wales will give you a very different holiday than a coastal cottage in southern France or Coney Island.

Many coastal cottages are located near a popular holiday destination. Not right in the middle of the location, but generally a few miles or less outside, so that you can easily drive in or even walk in, if you want some livelier entertainment. Classic coastal cottage entertainment activities include swimming, sailing, fishing and walking.

Of course, one of the chief considerations when renting a cottage is the rent itself. Now the funny thing is that is not nearly such a big consideration as you might think it would be. The macro location is more important than the micro location. So, Wales might be cheaper than the south of France, but within Wales itself, there is not a huge variation in price, when you equate like with like. Clearly, a five-bedroomed coastal cottage will be more expensive than a three-bedroomed one.

Another point worth looking into is the ownership of the coastal cottage. Is it owned by a private individual who lives near-by or is it owned by a large business. Is the cottage a real, authentic cottage or is it a new, mock cottage building? If it is old, is it connected with anyone famous or a famous event? Knowing these facts can all enhance your enjoyment.

Make sure that you are given some maps or drawings so that you can find the spot easily. Especially if you are going to the cottage in the evening or in the dark. Things often look far different at night than in the daylight, and if your chosen cottage is in a secluded spot, there may not be any street lighting

Finally, get hold of some pictures of inside and outside the coastal cottage you ultimately decide on and then book it early, because the best coastal cottages go earlier and earlier every year as this form of vacationing becomes ever more popular.

Cottage Rentals In The Country

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

Most people look forward to going away on holiday and a lot of people like to make complex plans and bookings. After all you frequently have to make allowances for flights and hotels. However, there can also be car, sightseeing and bicycle bookings as well, depending on the category of holiday you want.

Instead of a hotel, you might want to think about hiring a private cottage. Cottage rentals are a good alternative to a hotel or guest house. In general, cottage holidays are self-catering, so you would have to be ready to put in a little more work than if you went on an all-inclusive hotel stay. A small cottage on the coast in a secluded location would suit many people, but a vacation cottage on the coast might be better for others.

If you choose the right location, you can have whatever sort of cottage you want. Go to the coast if you like sailing or snorkeling. A seaside resort location would offer more night life most likely. If you want a quieter fishing vacation with canoing or boating, a quiet lakeside retreat would be more fitting. Then there are mountain retreats and several other levels of isolation and nightlife too.

If you would like to visit museums and other touristic sights, you should choose a site near an appropriate city. It just means a little forward preparation and thought.

We live in Wales and there are thousands of rental cottages of all kinds in all manner of locations. If you have a big family, you could hire a number of cottages close by each there and live in a kind of old fashioned village. There are also modern camps like ‘Center Parcs’ which have hundreds of very modern cottages in small groups of four or five so that families or friends can stay in a community together.

These modern cottages are very plush, with Jacuzzis, swirl baths, large flat screen televisions and all manner of entertainment equipment and satellite TV. The cottages are set in acres of woodland and wildlife is everywhere. There are deer, badgers, foxes, squirrels and dozens of types of birds including kingfishers, geese, ducks and swans.

The swimming pools are completely heated and go inside and outside into the woods, so that even in the middle of winter you remain warm. There is also archery, boating and hiking with many courses of differing hardship to follow. It is great to walk in the woods knowing that you cannot get lost with animals around every corner.

The wildlife is used to human company, so much or it is not afraid and they come right up to you if you stop for a picnic. These holidays are not so cheap as going to a self-catering private holiday, but they are safe, especially for young families.

You can find cottage rentals through a travel agent, but you can also find them by looking in your local newspaper. These are some of the best finds because the cottages might be only a few hours drive away, but that is far enough to make a big difference. You do not really have to get on a plane to have a great vacation with a difference.

Low-Cost Wedding Favours

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

If you are having a large wedding, that is one with a lot of guests, the cost of wedding favours can be quite significant, if you do not set a strict budget. One immediate method you could employ to cut the cost of your wedding favours is to give one to each couple or single, rather than one to everybody who attends. The first decision to make is how much can you afford in total and then divide that by the amount of guests in total and then divide it by the quantity of couples and singles.

This method will make it easier for you to decide what you are going to do: get for everybody; buy for couples and singles and save the rest for something else or give to couples and singles but buy more elaborate presents. If you still find that there is not a lot of money to go around, you will need to look for inexpensive wedding favours. I will offer you a few thoughts below to get you going.

Candles can be very effective, low-cost wedding favours. If you buy in bulk, you can get some really lovely candles at very affordable prices. You could get perfumed candles, maybe with the same smell as the spray the bride carried. You could also consider buying personalized ribbons to tie attractive bows around the candles and the ribbons could have your names and the wedding date on them.

Candy or chocolate is another kind of low-cost wedding favour. There are many ways to go down this route. You could have the wrappers of popular candy bars personalized; you could buy fairly expensive chocolate in bulk and wrap it up in a singular way yourself or you could buy small boxes of connoisseur chocolate.

Giving packets of flower or vegetable seeds is also an economical way of giving a useful wedding favour. Again, you could give seed packets of the flowers in the bride’s bouquet. The seed packets could be wrapped or boxed with your own special logo, names and wedding date. You could present them in a pot or tray too in order to make it even easier to sow the seeds.

A pen or pen and pencil set is also a fairly economical way of giving wedding favours. These pens can also bear your wedding particulars such as names and date.

However, I am Welsh and so my favourite wedding favours are love spoons in miniature, say four inches long. Love spoons were given in Wales by a suitor to his beloved for hundreds of years and many love spoon carvers will make mini versions by hand for a small sum of money. These love spoon wedding favours can also be inscribed with the wedding details as they are typically made out of wood.

Another lovely effect is to insert a stamped, self addressed envelope to your wedding favour present, with a short note asking the recipient to get in touch with you soon, so that you do not let too much water go under the bridge.

Do Anger Management Articles Help?

Sunday, May 16th, 2010

Anger is a social issue which is revealing great concern among many people these days. Maybe that is because it is a problem which can affects all generations, races, communities. In deed, anger has the ability to affect anybody without prejudice.

It is frightening for those who have to live with anger every day. Anger not only involves the person affected but also all those they come into contact with every day. Because it is such an important issue in society today, people are continuously striving to develop programs to help those affected by anger-related issues.

Reading anger management articles may be beneficial to someone who is affected by anger. There are different types of anger management articles, different in that they target specific groups such as teenagers, adults, men, women, couples, families and other groups affected by anger.

These articles are meant to be informational; empowering individuals with useful knowledge regarding the problems of coping with anger, anxiety, frustration and aggression. With guest writers and specialists in the area of anger management, these articles are stuffed full with interesting details and effective tools that people can take home and use to transform their emotions of anger and frustration into healthy, normal feelings.

Reading an anger management article can provide an individual with an opportunity to gain new knowledge on anger management, which may in turn provide some relief; a chance for people struggling with daily feelings of anger, rage and frustration to find hope and encouragement. This would not only allow a victim or sufferer to find some hope but it would also provide them a chance to realize that others also face similar challenges. Sharing personal experiences may help people to own up to their problem and perhaps discover underlying reasons for their anger and frustration.

A huge part of helping an individual work through anger-related issues is support. Assuring the person that they have people to count on, people who will stand by them no matter what may happen, this is extremely relevant to people who are fighting daily to overcome problems with anger. Encouragement is also important. Encouraging the individual to go to support group meetings, talk to a counsellor or read an anger management article may make a huge difference in their treatment.

Yes, society appears to have a huge problem with violence, aggression, frustration and anger but, society is also attempting to create anger management programs to help decrease this sociological problem. Providing anger management certified people to work in public places such as schools, corrections, mental health centres, society is proving that they are concerned. Beside visiting counsellors, doctors and treatment facilities, people can also attend anger management courses and consult anger management articles and books

These opportunities are available to people who are serious about making positive changes in their lives, it would be in their best interest to accept the opportunity. Reading anger management articles might be the turning point for an individual. If the article is effective in reaching just one person and making positive changes in their life and the lives of those around them, it was certainly worth writing it.

Boarding Dogs In Kennels

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

Are you the type of dog owner who likes to take your companion with you wherever you go? If you are then you know that that there are times when you can do this, but there are also times when you can not, for whatever reason.

On the occasions when that happens, you will usually need to find a boarding kennels that will take care of your dog while you are away.

A vacation is a time for relaxing, so you do not want to be worrying about your dog, if you can help it. Within your own country, it is not usually a big problem, but if you go abroad, then taking your dog can be more trouble than it is worth. Not only for you, but for your doggy friend as well.

If you can not board your dog with someone it knows, like a member of your family or a neighbour, then the only alternative is a boarding kennels.

I have put my dog in a bad kennel once and I learned a few lessons from that. I put my Becky in a kennel in a respectable village just outside our town. I was happy with what I saw and the patter of the owner, so I went to Spain, thinking that all was okay for both of us. I had a great holiday and went straight to the kennels from the airport on my return, although I had told them a fortnight before that I would pick Becky up the day after my arrival. I just could not wait to see her.

I went to the kennels and they were surprised to see me. Of course, I was a day early. They said that Becky was ‘resting’ and that it would be better to ‘come back tomorrow’. No way! So they took me to see her. I nearly cried. She was sitting in a good sized cage, but on newspaper sodden with pee.

She saw me and just looked down at her paws. I called her name again, but she did not want to know. I paid the bill and put her in the car on the front passenger seat where she always sat. She just looked out the window and showed no interest in me whatsoever.

It was three days before she would speak to me again! The moral of this story is not to be impressed by big adverts or impressive locations as I was. Ask your dog-owning friends, write into the local paper inviting recommendations, phone the local animal protection society or the kennel club or look on the Internet.

What Anger Management Help is there?

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

There are many relevant anger management help courses about. First and foremost, though, it is imperative to understand anger and the consequences of that anger. Anger management help will not be useful without understanding what it is that an individual is attempting to change or manage. Anger is completely normal. It is an in-born reaction to confrontation.

It is OK to get angry, but when this anger boils over frequently, it can result in major problems: that is problems within the family, within other relationships, school or work and it can also cause health problems. People who are unable to manage their anger in a positive way are likely to transpose their anger onto other situations such as child and spousal abuse, violent crimes and other types of criminal activity. Anger management help is something an individual should consider when people admit to themselves that they have a problem.

There are all sorts of anger-provoking situations, but there is plenty of anger management help that could be used when working through anger-related issues. Some people become really mad or angry when they are frustrated. This can happen when something doesn’t work out the way they planned or they failed to succeed after giving the task their all - circumstances like these may cause a person to become frustrated. This frustration may lead to anger which can then spin off into a whole list of negative consequences.

Irritation, anxiety and frustration provoke anger. Every day incidents such as constant reminders or regular interruptions can cause a person to become irritated. This irritation continues to grow and the result can be a sudden fit of fury. Depending on the individual, this rage can cause a person to resort to different ways of releasing their anger, some of which may be painful to themselves and / or others.

When somebody is being verbally abused or even sexually harassed, it is very easy to see that anger can result. People deal with disturbing situations in different ways but for those people who become uncontrollably angry because of the abuse, the result can be very serious - even violent. Anger management help is imperative in these situations, especially when people feel threatened.

If someone is accused unfairly, it often provokes feelings of anger. Often when people are blamed for something, whether rightly or wrongly, it can cause them to become angry and act irrationally. There is a huge amount of help in society that can be important to properly understanding anger management. The more knowledge a person can gather, the better equipped they will be if they are confronted with circumstances involving an angry person or even if they need anger management help themselves.

Anger management help is made available from many sources such as books, pamphlets, doctors’ surgeries, films and the Internet. For a person who requires anger management help, the Internet is an excellent source of information. Decorating Wedding Cakes

Monday, April 12th, 2010

Nearly every family or social event includes the eating of food and the drinking or drinks in the celebration. Think of Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, and weddings. In this article, I would like to speak about that centre piece of the wedding reception: the wedding cake.

The guests come to eat, drink and be merry and the bride’s parents always put a great deal of effort into the preparation for the wedding party. The wedding cake is the central point of the top table and the whole function in general. The wedding cake has traditional significance and it is often thought bad luck not to have a piece of the wedding cake.

There are precise rules for the timing of the cutting of the wedding cake that have become part of tradition. For example, if the wedding reception takes place at lunch or dinner, it is traditional to cut the wedding cake just before the dessert is served.

However, if the reception is held in the late afternoon or early evening, the cake is cut as soon as the guests arrive. In some traditions the bride and groom cut and eat the first slice together as a symbol of their vows to love, honour and obey each other. The remainder of the cake is generally cut by one of the assistants, like the maid of honour or a family member.

It can be quite hard to choose the wedding cake. Traditionally, people opt for a white cake with white icing for weddings, however these days, people are becoming more adventurous and are choosing more exotic flavours and colours.

Some people choose to have a wedding cake which has different flavours on each layer. While white icing is still the overwhelming favourite, people do order other colours like pink and yellow. Chocolate and mocha are also popular. These days you can have what you like. It is your day, after all.

Everybody likes the wedding reception. It is the most well-liked part of the wedding day and everyone looks forward to seeing the cake cut and sharing it with the bride and groom.

If you are thinking about becoming a cake decorator, you have a couple of options to go about it. You could buy a book or a course or get a video in order to teach yourself how to decorate cakes from the simple to the elaborate. You could also go to a night school class to learn the art or cake decoration.

Without a doubt, the very best way to learn cake decorating is to take a course. DVD’s, videos, and books are all well and good, but you cannot converse with them or ask questions. If you attend a class for three months or more you will learn more and get a more profound understanding of the art of cake decoration. You will learn how to put real emotion into the decoration of the cake and you will be able to translate the wedding couple’s dreams into a cake that you and they can be proud of.

The Ancient History of Barry, South Wales: Part Two

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

In the 1700’s, dishes, saws, knives, flints, a scraper, a prehistoric horn celt with strange markings, a spokeshave and some arrowheads from the Neolithic Period were found. These are now safely housed in the museum in Cardiff, but at the time no one thought to organize an excavation and later a housing estate was built on the site.

They also found an ancient Roman kitchen complete with utensils and food remains which appeared to have been abandoned in a hurry like the Marie Celeste. That wasn’t investigated either. In 1533, the King’s Antiquary, Leland, was told to tour all places where records were held. It took him nine years and his description of the island was as follows:

“It is about a mile in circumference and has good corn, grass and some wood, and there is no dwelling on the Island, but in the midst of it is a fair little Chapel of St. Baruch which is visited by many pilgrims. It took the name Barri from this holy man who was buried there and whose remains are yet on the Island”. (The Welsh name for Barry is Y Barri).

Vikings ravaged the coast of South Wales in the tenth century. They often took hostages from the monasteries, but they did not seem to want to live in the area. For a long tim, the island was known as the “Saints’ Retreat” or the “Island of Saints”. Afterwards, in the sixteenth century, it was inhabited by smugglers and pirates and was called the “Smugglers’ Fortress”. This became serious as it grew simultaneously with the rise of Bristol, Britain’s second largest port.

Barry Island became the centre of piracy in the Bristol Channel. In 1784, the island was known as the Fortress of Knight. Knight was the top smuggler and pirate in the area and people were frightened of testifying against him, although he was also something of a local hero. His armed brig’s name was John O’ Combe. He was eventually moved on to Lundy Island, which he also turned into a fortress, although he and his successor, Arthur, still returned so often to Barry, that H.M. Customs requested the government to permanently post a cutter to Penarth and 60 light infantry to Barry.

The small seaside village of Rhoose, five miles from Barry, was so well-known for its wreckers that George II sent troops to break up them up. They landed at Aberthaw, just up the coast a bit further, “the Rhoose men’s favourite landing zone, from where they could easily transport the contraband along Port Road to Cardiff, the main market for such things”. While digging out for the docks at Barry in the late nineteenth century, several large caves were filled in. They had probably been used by the pirates who were moved on in about 1850.
