Air Conditioning Systems In our Cars

Saturday, November 19th, 2011

Sky high petroleum prices, the recession and the threat of unemployment means that most drivers are searching for ways to decrease the amount of fuel they use in their cars. There are various things you can do to lessen your fuel bills that will not include any costly alterations to your vehicle. In fact, it will not mean any changes at all.

One of the first things to understand is that fuel additives do not work. None of them have been proven to work. On the other hand a well tuned engine will run at its maximum fuel efficiency. This can most easily be incorporated into your car’s annual service.

Another technique to save fuel is not to accelerate quickly or brake abruptly. Try to drive smoothly and stay under 60 miles per hour. Fifty-six miles per hour is the most economical driving speed for many modern cars.

However, the easiest way of saving money on driving your car, is to turn off the air conditioning system altogether. You have almost certainly already noticed that your car is less responsive when you have the air conditioning running. This is because your car’s engine is powering the wheels of your car and the air conditioning system. In other words, your car’s engine is driving two motors at the same time, splitting its resources.

Therefore, you should avoid using your car’s air conditioning system unless you really have to have it. Opening the roof light is a good substitute, which will not create too much draft. The extra sun light is invigorating too. I personally like to have my window down while I am driving, although I am aware that it can be very drafty in the back of the car if you have passengers there.

If you do not have rear passengers and you do not want too much draft anyway, you can open a rear window in order to lower the temperature in your car.

A vehicle’s air conditioning system is a boon if you can afford to use it, but it is also an superfluous luxury if you need to save some money on fuel. Some statistics show that a car’s air conditioning can cost anything between 5% and 10% of your fuel costs, if your are driving slowly in the inner city. Less if you are driving fast on the freeway.

Turning off the air conditioning is the simplest and easiest way to save on your fuel bills. Many auto cooling systems still have fans and very forceful ones as well. There is no need to roast just because you have turned the car’s air conditioning off.

Shopping Online For An Air Purifier

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

Have you come to the conclusion that you want an air purifier for your home? You might think it is a helpful idea if the air in your home is ‘unclean’ in any way or even if it is damp and mildewy. There are numerous factors why a home and its residents can benefit from an air purifier especially if you live on a main road or near a factory. Too many hairy pets can also become a cause of allergies which can get cleaned up by the use of an air purifier.

If you do choose to get one, there are several different kinds to choose from and various cost levels. You can also shop on or off line. In fact, the price of these devices is frequently lower on line because the vendor does not have the overheads of a bricks and mortar shop front, although you will have to keep in mind to add postage and package and any local taxes that may be appropriate. It is still usually cheaper to purchase on line rather than in the shopping mall.

However, both methods of shopping have their advantages and disadvantages, so we will take a closer look at these next. Really what you need to do is compare both methods of shopping and see which is best for you. The way that I do that is by going on line and typing something like ‘air purifiers for sale’ into a search engine.

The results that come up will be many, almost certainly well over 100,000, so choose a dozen or so and do some research. Amazon is usually a decent place to read users’ reviews. Make notes on brand names, prices, features and capabilities. Then take these notes to the Mall and go searching for air purifiers.

With your newly discovered knowledge of these devices, you can question sales personnel and compare prices. Write more notes and do some comparisons.

Do not forget to add postage and packing and local taxes to the on line prices. Another item that you ought to take into account is the warranty. What occurs if the purifier breaks down? Will you have to send it hundreds of miles away to get repaired? Who will stump up for that?

It is always easier to claim on a guarantee if it can be done locally. However, what are the chances of it breaking down anyway? It depends on the length of the guarantee really.

Some of the functions that you should come across whilst researching your prospective air purifier are whether it uses an air filter or not, whether it can cool air or not and whether it can dehumidify or not. These three features are convenient for different conditions, but there is no point paying for something that you will never use - the dehumidifier for instance.

Some individuals prefer a machine that does not need an air filter or which has a washable filter, but this is normally because of laziness and false economy. There are many different kinds of filters for different pollutants so they are more flexible and ultimately far better.

Dry Sensitive Skin

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

Dry skin is quite frequently sensitive too, which just makes it more difficult to deal with. Dry sensitive skin feels taut because of the deficiency of natural oils and has a tendency to develop small expression lines that will eventually become wrinkles. Moreover, this kind of skin makes one more exposed to allergic reactions, rashes, capillaries rupturing and sudden flushes. Therefore, taking care of dry sensitive skin is a real challenge sometimes. It is worth saying that it affects people of all ages, colours and genders.

You have to follow rigorous rules in your choice of cleansing, moisturising and make-up products if you have dry sensitive skin to take care of. Firstly, you have to reduce the amount of products you put on your skin. The fact is, the more chemicals you come into contact with, the bigger the chance of getting rashes. The products have to be fragrance-free and hypo-allergenic so that you don’t get red, irritation blotches. Blusher and foundation can present some problems for dry sensitive skin.

Try not to put on too much make-up in order to permit your skin to breathe properly. When you are shopping for make up, other than looking for the hypo-allergenic label, you should also try to make sure that they are oil-free. Foundation and blusher should be water-based because they don’t clog your pores. Furthermore, oil-absorbing foundations are not recommended for dry sensitive skin, because they will make your skin even drier.

It is also not to be recommended that you use exfoliants or astringent products on dry sensitive skin because they can irritate the thin upper layers of skin. The same thing must be said in relation to cleansing - too frequent washing of the face means eliminating the natural oils that lubricate the skin, which will result in an accelerated dryness.

Furthermore, your day-time moisturiser should have a sun-protection factor (SPF) of at least 15 built-in. However, although you may enjoy sunbathing, dry sensitive skin does not really permit you to enjoy such outdoor, skin-parching pleasures.

If you have dry sensitive skin, don’t expose it to the sun in order to tan it, because you will only achieve early ageing and possibly even quite serious health issues. And last but not least, a warning must be signalled that you should change some of your cosmetic products for other ones along the lines mentioned above.

If you decide that you should to switch to a different skincare brand, it is very important that you test the product on a small patch of skin in order to check whether it triggers any negative manifestations.
