Corporate Gifts For Executives

Sunday, February 5th, 2012

The giving of gifts does not only exist between friends and relatives. It is also common amongst companies and corporations and their employees. The purpose is similar, although for firms, it is done with another intention that can be explained by the business side of it. Corporate gifts are made use of as a tool to demonstrate hospitality, appreciation, or gratitude to business colleagues, employees and clients who took part in the company. Corporate gifts are employed either to build better relationships within the company or used as an initial or on-going effort to gain business contacts with another firm.

Choosing a Great Corporate Executive Gift:

When selecting a corporate gift, it all depends on who is going to receive the item and why. Furthermore, the gifts you are going to give should also be based on what they are meant to accomplish. For instance, corporate gifts may be given to employees to encourage better work and to encourage them to be more productive in the days to come. However, giving corporate gifts can be done to build better business relationships with another firm.

If the gift giving is to be done during a company event (such as a founding anniversary or a retirement), items that will best commemorate the said event are the best presents. Add a personal touch to the items by imprinting the name of the event and the names of your employees and guests who attended the event so that people remember the affair for the longest amount of time.

When the corporate gift is intended for internal employees of the company (typically made on an annual holiday event held by the company), there are various corporate gifts that you can choose from the market. You could choose something personal such as a briefcase that will be of use for the employees. Embossing the name of the company is optional in this situation.

In the case of business colleagues, there is a variety of corporate executive gifts that will match their positions in the corporate world. Corporate executive gifts are best given to a business colleague whether within the same company or from another company and corporation. This time, choosing the gift should be done very carefully. It is also a necessity that the name of your company is embossed, engraved, or printed on the corporate gift item.

Having the name of your company printed in any procedure on the items is the best way to have the name of your company remembered. Printing, embossing, or engraving your company name on the present will help them remember you for as long as they are using your gift. In addition, personalizing the items is a great way to advertise your company’s services and products, albeit in a subtle manner.

So, what are the best gifts for executives?

Because the people who are going to receive your corporate executive gifts are people who are mostly busy with their schedules, it is best to choose items that will help them with their business activities. Hence, briefcases, bags of all sorts, office items like pens, key chains, luggage tags, notebooks, or any corporate leather gifts are the best choice.

You can also consider giving them executive business cards, executive toys, a crystal globe, glassware, leather writing pads, bookends, a drinks set, magnifing glass, desk set, desk clock, wine decanter, amongst others. There are countless gifts you can choose from, just make certain they are made of the finest materials and that they will last for a long time.

If you can extend your resourcefulness, try to find something that has a amount of uniqueness. Depending on how much you are want to spend on these corporate executive gifts, you can find the most amazing tools to make your company’s name remembered and be better known in the industry that you operate in.

Why United States military personnel stationed overseas need to make use of a proxy server

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

Around the world, the US has men and women serving in the navy. These brave soldiers are defending our nation under what can be very harsh conditions. While it can be argued that they chose to serve in the military freely, we still owe them our thanks. It’s up to us to make sure they have everything they need to be safe when deployed. Safety however, is not only making sure they have the military equipment, it also demands that we provide a way to let off steam. The USO does a great job at this with shows right at the front line. Remember, a soldier’s best weapon is his or her mind. If they are well cared for, they will be better prepared. Years ago, all the military had was R & R, letters from home and the USO. Now soldiers on the front line also have access to other entertainment via the Internet.

So what would a soldier want to access on the Internet. Believe it or not, one of the things they do is watch TV online. They can catch their favorite shows or watch baseball. Most of the TV networks put their some of their newest episodes online. For others, they can access media sites that aggregate content. Another source for media is the online newspapers like the New York Times. Or maybe they want to read their home town paper online. Today most, if not all papers, have an interactive version. So between TV, sports, and newspapers, they can catch up on the latest US media and news.

There are also several social networking websites out there that they can use to keep in touch with friends and family. Sure e-mail works to an extent, but if you have ever used any form of social networking, you know exactly how much simpler it is. You can type a message on your homepage, and suddenly all of your friends and family will be able to see it. Soldiers are very pressed for time, and sometimes there just isn’t an opportunity to respond to every single person. This makes social networking extremely important. There is a problem however, a huge problem. Sometimes soldiers cannot get to the websites that they need. Why exactly? Well let’s talk about it.

The purpose of companies streaming their television shows onto the Internet is so that people will see them, and eventually decide to buy them on DVD. People outside the country however will not be able to buy these because they are simply unavailable. Companies decided that they were actually losing money because such people couldn’t get a hold of their products! They didn’t seem to consider all of the people IN the United States that were buying. After all, what could it hurt if a few foreigners watched an episode of The Office, or even Stargate Universe? Well you wouldn’t think that it could hurt at all, but the production companies didn’t quite see it that way. For this reason they started to block IP addresses outside of the United States. The same went for several social networking websites because they suffered from the same advertisement problem. This however did not stop the military personnel from viewing their favorite websites. They instead turned to proxies.

So what is a proxy, or anonymous proxy? A proxy is an Internet server that changes the IP address that the user has. It does this by establishing a connection to the surfer and then acting as the originating point for the Internet communications. In this way, the destination sites will see the IP address of the proxy and not that of the user. If the proxy has a US IP address, then the websites will think that the person is in the US and not overseas. This is how websites blocks can be bypassed. If the proxy also uses encryption, then banned websites can be accessed too. That’s because the encryption bypasses the censorship. So by using an anonymous proxy, our military personnel deployed abroad can still access the websites they used to enjoy at home.

For additional info on how to spoof your IP address so that you can avoid any type of website censorship or blocks, just visit our change IP website.

Really, Do Family Members Always Need To Know Where You Are All The Time

Tuesday, January 31st, 2012

A new “geolocation information generator” has been launched on the internet. Its creator, Yiannis Kakavas, has given it the interesting name of Creepy. Many privacy rights advocates have raised their worries about the potential impact of this application to individual privacy. What can this new application do and why should it stir such concern?

Kakavas created Creepy as a package for Linux or Windows. The third package for Mac OS X is now in the process. In essence, this app makes use of social networking services in order to pinpoint a user’s location. It can do this by gathering the information supplied by the user to the network and putting together these pieces of information. The software has just been launched, but has already shown its job efficiency in living up to its name.

Creepy has an integral search utility to find any individual online. The user has only to input the Twitter or Flickr username of that individual then hit the “Geolocate Target” button. All photos or tweets that the individual has published or posted online will be downloaded by Creepy. From those materials, Creepy will find the user’s location at the time each of the materials was published.

To create a meaningful set of data, the software gathers every piece of available information pertaining to the user’s location. After its processing, the user’s different locations are presented by showing a map. Taken one by one, these data on locations do not have much to tell, but when gathered jointly as a whole, the user might really feel creepy. Too much data is exposed, compromising the user’s most frequented places or hang outs, the area around his or her home, and even in his or her office. This data is just enough to make him or her a victim of stalking.

It only took three months for Kakavas to finish the program. He made use of accessible data found in publicly available libraries like osmgpsmap, pyexif2, and tweepy. In his mind, Kakavas believes that he has created something that will persuade people to put more importance on their privacy. He would like to intensify user understanding about the dangers of casual sharing of personal information online.

He explains that small pieces of data can be put together in order to make bigger, more meaningful information. Users are often too late to realize that it would have been better if they kept that information to themselves. The frequent ones are address, place of work, the places they hang out most often, when they are not at home, and many others.

Further, he said that the other reason he created Creepy is for social engineers to have a tool for information gathering. Especially for security analysts, Creepy can be used to perform penetration testing. Information that is gathered can be used for various purposes in the future.

Using a software program such as Creepy pinpoints where you are located all the time.. The opposite of this is to use an anonymous proxy to hide your IP address which masks your true location.

Examples Of Computer Virus

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

New computer viruses are being generated, exposed and fought every day. These computer viruses are created often just to annoy us and to inflict chaos in our computer systems. Hereunder, I have described ten viruses recently cited as being the most prevalent and being potentially able to cause the most harm. However, new viruses are being developed daily, so this list is by no means complete. The only thing you can do is remain alert, keep your anti-virus software updated, and keep aware of the current computer virus threats.

Virus: Trojan.Lodear: A Trojan (from Trojan Horse) that tries to download files from a remote source. It will introduce a .dll file into the EXPLORER.EXE process causing system instability.

Virus: W32.Beagle.CO@mm: A mass-mailing worm that reduces security settings. It can delete security-related registry sub keys and may prevent access to security-related websites.

Virus: Backdoor.Zagaban: A Trojan that allows the infected computer to be operated as a covert proxy and which may degrade network performance.

Virus: W32/Netsky-P: A mass-mailing worm which spreads by emailing itself to addresses harvested from files on the local drives.

Virus: W32/Mytob-GH: A mass-mailing worm and IRC backdoor Trojan for the Windows platform. Messages sent by this worm will have the subject chosen randomly from a list including titles such as: Notice of account limitation, Email Account Suspension, Security measures, Members Support, Important Notification.

Virus: W32/Mytob-EX: A mass-mailing worm and IRC backdoor Trojan similar in nature to W32-Mytob-GH. W32/Mytob- EX runs constantly in the background, providing a backdoor server which allows a distant hacker to gain admittance and control over your computer via IRC channels. This virus propagates by sending itself to email attachments harvested from your email address book.

Virus: W32/Mytob-AS, Mytob-BE, Mytob-C, and Mytob-ER: This family of worm variations possesses similar characteristics in terms of what they are able to do. They are mass-mailing worms with backdoor functionality that can be manipulated through the Internet Relay Chat (IRC) network. Furthermore, they can spread themselves via email and by various operating system vulnerabilities such as the LSASS (MS04-011).

Virus: Zafi-D: A mass-mailing worm and a peer-to-peer worm which copies itself to the Windows system folder with the filename Norton Update.exe. It can then generate a quantity of files in the Windows system folder with filenames made up of 8 random characters and a DLL extension. W32/Zafi-D replicates itself to folders with names containing words like ’share’, ‘upload’, or ‘music’ as ‘ICQ 2005a new!.exe’ or ‘winamp 5.7 new!.exe’. W32/Zafi-D will also display a fake error message box with the caption “CRC: 04F6Bh” and the text “Error in packed file!”.

Virus: W32/Netsky-D: A mass-mailing worm with IRC backdoor functionality which can also contaminate computers vulnerable to the LSASS (MS04-011) exploit.

Virus: W32/Zafi-B: A peer-to-peer (P2P) and email worm that will reproduce itself to the Windows system folder as a randomly named EXE file. This worm will test for the presence of an Internet connection by attempting to connect to google.com or microsoft.com. A bilingual, worm with an attached Hungarian political text message box which translates to ?We demand that the government accommodates the homeless, tightens up the penal code and VOTES FOR THE DEATH PENALTY to cut down the increasing crime. How To Recover Computer Data

Friday, December 16th, 2011

If you make your money by using a computer, you ought to protect yourself against all computer disasters. If you were a taxi driver, you would take out car and public liability insurance. If you were an employer, you might take out plant and tools insurance. If you were a landlord you would take out property insurance and loss of income insurance.

But what do you do if you work on line? Well, if you work with computers, data is your most valuable resource, but you cannot insure against losing it because you cannot prove that you ever had it. So, what can you do? The solution is that you need to have reliable backups and several of them.

The problem is that computers do not frequently break down so we are lulled into the false feeling of security that we can make backups tomorrow instead of right now. However, the longer that you work with IT, the more you comprehend that there are no warning signs when you are about to lose all your data, which may be your entire income stream.

For example, say you make web sites for a living and update them frequently so that the search engines find them interesting. What would occur if your hard drive crashed or if they were destroyed by a virus? You might say that you would download them from your Internet host and begin again, but that is not possible, because most HTML editors will not decompile a completed website.

That would mean that you could never update those web sites again, so they would become less and less interesting to the search engines, so your ranking would fall and your earnings would plunge. And why? Because you failed to insure your business by taking adequate backups. You failed to make proviso for data recovery in the event of data loss.

However, no matter how often you backup your data on physical media, you will always be facing a risk because anything physical, any device is subject to failure and deterioration. CD’s do not last as long as we were promised. I have lost tons of data that I thought was safe on CD’s and hard drives are prone to fail with no notice whatsoever.

Even if you do overcome these issues of storage, what occurs if there is a fire or a thief really steals all your disks and computers? Your hardware would be insured but your livelihood, your data would be gone forever. All that hard effort. Your source of earnings. Gone. Forever.

There is a different alternative and that is not to hold your data on your computer, in your office or anywhere within a thousand miles of yourself. This is called cloud storage or cloud data storage. Microsoft calls it Sky Drive and offers 25 GB of free, password-protected, storage available from anywhere in the world. This kind of storage is the ultimate in secure storage providing the best value recovery planning for computer data.

How To Protect Your Computer With Antivirus Software

Friday, December 16th, 2011

Computers run so much of our lives these days. They run our payroll, our bank account, our school and business records, our governments and, for many individuals, our entertainment, so anything that disrupts computers has the potential to completely screw up our lives in the short term.

This state of affairs is bad enough, but there are also people out there who get their thrills out of writing and releasing viruses to infect our computers and screw up our lives. I am not talking about criminals, we have always had to put up with them, I mean teenagers and others who compose and release viruses to damage our computers for pleasure.

These days, a lot of families are dispersed because members have travelled to other cities to study or work and sometimes this means going to other countries too. Most of these people rely on computers and the Net to stay in touch. A infection could mean the disruption of these contacts and even the obliteration of family photo albums.

You might come to the conclusion that we rely on computers too much and lots of people would agree with you, especially those who have lost crucial information to computer viruses. At worst, you could have your identity stolen and have our financial life completely disrupted, but even losing your computer for a couple of days whilst it is repaired ‘in the shop’ is bad enough.

In my case, this would mean loss of earnings, for others it may mean a violation of privacy or even theft. So, what can we do to protect ourselves?

Antivirus software is the solution.

Antivirus software used to mean a program to scan files coming into your computer, but nowadays it means much more. Decent AV software will now include a firewall to protect your computer from being hacked and a malware scanner to stop incoming files from dropping trojans and worms etc onto your hard disk.

These small programs can read the keys that you press and send the data back to their creator. These key presses can be analyzed to disclose your preferences on search engines (in order to spam you) or your log in details to your bank (in order to steal from you).

So, you have to install either a decent antivirus software suite, which will include all of the above or you can get the components separately. Not so long ago, you would have had to purchase all these items, but now some are built into Windows. Windows now comes with a firewall and antivirus software, which will also scan email.

This is good enough for most users, but if you would like to take your computer’s safety to a higher level, you should add a dedicated malware scanner, of which there are many decent free ones. If you consider that it takes too much time to run two or three separate programs and keep them up to date or if you would like a higher level of protection, you might consider buying an AV software suite.

There are plenty of good ones like Norton, Nod, Kaspersky and others which cost little more than $30 a year for absolute peace of mind.

Owen Jones, the author of this article, writes on many subjects, but is currently involved with the cheap antivirus software. If you have an interest in such software, please go over to our website now at Computer Antivirus Software
