1 The composite surged 1.8% in higher volume, erasing last week's losses as crude prices closed lower after yet another record high. The S&P 500 raced 1.1% while the Dow and NYSE composite gained 1%, closing near session highs. NYSE volume eased. Internet, retail, telecom and bank stocks were among the day's best. The 10-year Treasury yield rose 2 ticks to 3.79%.
